Who is Alex?
Alex is a Vancouver based artist. He primarily works in film and television, though he’s always happy to work in other creative industries.
Growing up, Alex has always been drawn to art, spending many years attending a local art school where he learnt the basics of composition, shading and technique.
During Secondary School, Alex took a liking to his school’s Video Production program. Though he still had a lot to learn, he enjoyed the challenge and the learning curve that came with it.
Later in life Alex went into the field of carpentry. Attending the Youth Train in Trades program at Aldergrove Community Secondary School. Alex learnt drafting skills and was educated on the uses for numerous power tools, as well as becoming familiar with the building code and regulations. During this time he also attended Kwantlen Polytechnic University to learn surveying and advanced carpentry skills.
Once Alex joined the workforce as a Carpenter’s Apprentice, he realized the field lacked the creativity and freedom that he had grown to love. In turn, this lead him to recall his passion for film.
From there, Alex attended Vancouver Film School’s Film Production program. In which Alex took a strong liking towards the Production Design specialization. During his time at VFS he was given the opportunity to expand his knowledge in the arts and apply what he had been learning to the numerous productions he was involved in.
Since graduating, Alex has been working on expanding his skills and taking on roles as a Production Designer. He has also been evolving his graphic design skills post-graduation, making graphics for the films he has been a part of.
